The Gwynn Theatre is another old Baltimore Movie house that might be in for trouble. The theatre opened in 1933, but closed down by the early 1950's. The building has been used for a variety of uses, as seen in the photos above, such as a Rite Aid Store. Later it was a shoe store, but that has since closed as well. The building is vacant, and the Howard Park Food Store next store is slated to be torn down for a new food store, but so far, there has been no construction. I have a feeling the entire block is part of the plans, but we shall see. Just across the street from the Gwynn is the Ambassador Theatre.
