By accounts so far found, the Arcade Theatre building still stands. It was built to replace a old Opera House, which burned down in 1928. The theatre is a yellow brick structure , and operated throughout the 1920's, 30's, 40s and 50's. Some accounts show a fire in 1965, which badly damaged the building. It also went by the name of the New Arcade, as seen in the ads above., with records showing a seating capacity of 350 in the late 1930's. Other Crisfield theatres we found ( pre 1950 ) are : Lyric Theatre - ( listed iin 1928 - seated 350 and seems to have burned down in 1928 ) Lee - Opera House - Burned down in 1928 - located at 300 West Main Street .............................................................. |
